Syndrome 1.1: Me_asurement

Me_asurement
by Tom Schofield and John Bowers

What does your face say about you? me/asurement was a live interactive artwork that makes statistical inferences from live measurements of peoples faces to produce hypotheses about their lives.

Sourced in biometrics, data mining and current surveillance techniques, this is a contemporary re-imagining of the 19th century pseudo science of ‘phrenology’, in which faculties of the mind, and by extension, personality were thought to be extractable from physical measurements of the head.
